  • Virtual Surveys are preferred for all homeowners

  • It may also be necessary for brand new home constructions which are not available via satellite imagery

  • Site surveys must be scheduled with the homeowner directly, or on the line (Palmetto is not able to schedule with rep only)

  • 3 Hour schedule window-- during this window, a technician will arrive, complete a full survey, and be off-site. The survey itself will not take this amount of time, but merely allows for traffic, unexpected circumstances, etc., in scheduling

  • External portion: Tech will leverage drone technology to laser-measure the various external roof spaces, obstructions, or potential shading trees

  • Internal portion: Tech will require attic access to take photos and measurements of the rafters/trusses. This will go to a structural engineer for stamping later on in the solar process

  • Core Tests/Attic cuts: in the small percentage of cases where attic access is not physically possible (IE sealed attic), a small ceiling cut will be necessary for camera access. Technicians attempt to execute this cut in an inconspicuous place (IE in a closet rather than in the middle of the bedroom). All cuts are sealed with inconspicuous metal plating. Technicians will only proceed with homeowner permission.

  • In some rare cases with live-in attics, we may require floor plans for the floor below the live-in attic. This is so that we can identify the load-bearing walls directly below the live-in attic and determine whether or not the roof can withstand the weight of the panels safely.
