Outlined below is the process every CT homeowner must take to complete their MANDATORY Energy Audit. This audit is required to be scheduled before an interconnection application can be submitted to the utility for review.

In order for a homeowner to move forward with their solar installation, they must have an Energy Audit scheduled before an interconnection application can be submitted. This is required by the state of Connecticut. Please click HERE for more information.

Energy Audit: The technician looks at everything in the home, and recommends energy efficiency upgrades (windows, light bulbs, weather-stripping, appliance upgrades, leaks, showerheads, etc.)

Expectations: Palmetto has setup a process with an in- state energy auditor, New England Smart Energy, to complete this required audit. The homeowner will be responsible for scheduling an audit appointment and ensuring someone is home during the appointment.

There are two audit options available for scheduling:

  1. Homeowner contacts New England Smart Energy directly to schedule an audit appointment

    OR

    If an audit has not been scheduled by the homeowner, Palmetto will provide the customer's contact information to New England Smart Energy to schedule the audit

  2. Once the audit is scheduled, Palmetto will be able to proceed with the customer's interconnection application

  3. The audit is completed. The cost of the audit is covered by Palmetto and the audit results are provided to the homeowner for review. Full audit: 3-4 hours, $75

If the homeowner has already had this completed within the last 3 years, they will need to provide their audit results. To locate these results either:

  • Locate the original email with results and forward it to [email protected]

  • If they can not locate the results, they can call 1-877-WISEUSE to obtain results if they have had it done within 3 years (which can take up to 48 hours to receive) Once they receive the results they need to send them to [email protected]
