Florida Power & Light requires homeowners to take a few steps directly in your FP&L account before your solar system can be approved and connected. Here's what to expect.
The process has three steps:
You grant Palmetto access to your FP&L account
Palmetto completes the application on your behalf
You sign and submit the final application
Step 1: Grant Palmetto access to your FP&L account
You'll receive an email from Florida Power & Light with instructions from [email protected].
Follow these steps to name Palmetto as your contractor and give us access to complete the application.
Go to fpl.com and log in to your account
Click the search icon and type "apply for net metering," then click Search

Select Net metering application from the results, then select Install new and Apply online
Confirm your customer information and click Continue

Enter your social security number in the Tax information form, check both boxes to review and accept, enter your name exactly as it appears on your electricity bill, then click Save & continue
Under Contractor information, select Yes, I have a contractor and type "Palmetto Solar, LLC." Select Yes to grant access, then click Save & continue
That's it for Step 1. Palmetto takes it from here.
Step 2: Palmetto completes the application
We'll fill out all the remaining application materials on your behalf. You don't need to do anything during this step.
Step 3: Sign and submit your application
When your application is ready, you'll receive an email from [email protected]. Here's how to finalize it:
Go to fpl.com and log in to your account
Click the search icon, type "net metering," and click Search
Select Net metering from the results, then click your name and select Edit
Click Save & continue through each screen to review the application Palmetto completed
On the agreement page, enter your name exactly as it appears on your electricity bill, then click Save & continue
That submits your application to Florida Power & Light. Once all permits and approvals are in place, you're ready for installation.
