Maryland Compliance: MHIC - Salesperson License Process and Guide – Palmetto

The state of MD requires a salesperson to acquire a license to sell solar. Follow the below guidance and instructions.

What do I need to do?

a) Existing License Holders: Provide your existing license information to Palmetto below, and submit forms to the state to associate your license with Palmetto's.

b) New reps to MD: Apply for an MHIC license

Why do I need a license?

The state of Maryland requires sales rep’s name and MHIC Salesperson License # appear on the HIC that Palmetto issues the customer; therefore, each rep must have a valid MHIC Salesperson license associated with Palmetto and on file. This applies to in person and virtual/remote sales.

Step #	Desc.	Notes
1	Click the link below and request Form A for Existing License Holders.	Palmetto will docusign the form to you, typically within 2-3 biz days or less.
2	Palmetto submits the transfer to the state on sales member's behalf	No action required by sales member, proceed to step 3.
3	Sales member uploads copy of their license below	Photo proof is acceptable
4	Palmetto will log your License information in your Alchemy account, and you can begin to issue contracts.	Once license information is received, your MHIC number will display on any contracts issued.

1	Click the link below and request Form B for New Licensee Applications	Palmetto will docusign the form to you, typically within 2-3 biz days or less.
2	Sales member must complete state exam	Create an account and follow the instructions on the state exam by clicking here
3	Once exam is completed, sales member submits application to the state. Palmetto recommends using a trackable envelope to send the printed paperwork.	Follow all details in entirety as listed on Form B, including Professional Photograph Check for fees
4	Once approved, sales member uploads copy of the new license, or approval proof, via the link below.	Photo proof is acceptable
5	Palmetto will log your License information in your Alchemy account, and you can begin to issue contracts.	Once license information is received, your MHIC number will display on any contracts issued.
