This courtesy service is offered to our Florida customers to allow them to meet the requirements of their utility company during the interconnection/PTO process specifically for the Tier2 projects - systems bigger than 11.76kW DC.
Palmetto will be owning the request of the $1 million umbrella policy directly to the insurance broker.
These are the required documents at the point of sale to proceed with this step:
- Utility bill.
- ID (driver's license) of the utility account holder.
- Current homeowner's insurance - $300 of general liability. (insured name must match the utility account holder)
All the documents need to be sent to email@example.com in order to request the policy.
If the policy doesn't have the minimum coverage needed to buy the umbrella, the homeowner will need to increase the liability coverage up to $300k; if the homeowner doesn't agree we'll have two options:
- Request a re-design to decrease the system size to Tier1 (smaller than 11.76kW DC)
- The project will go to retention due to DQ.
Time expectation: After the request is submitted to the insurance broker, it usually takes between 24-48 hours to send a notification that they sent the insurance quote to the customer in a DocuSign to get signed. The Origination Team will reach out to the Sales Member or homeowner, letting them know to sign the umbrella and clarify that they won’t get charged for it, Palmetto is going to cover the policy for 1 (one) year.
Note: The policy needs to be signed by the customer after the broker sent it directly to them in order for Palmetto to make the payment and receive the policy.
