Understanding Your Palmetto Solar Performance Guarantee

At Palmetto, we believe you deserve peace of mind with your solar investment. That's why we stand behind your system's performance with our exclusive Palmetto Solar Performance Guarantee.

This guarantee applies to Palmetto Energy Plan customers only. It does not apply to customers who purchased or own their solar system outright. Have a different contract? See details below.

We stand behind what your system produces. If your solar system falls short of the energy we promised over a 3-year review period, we'll pay you the difference.

How it works

1. Your production is reviewed every 3 years

  • Your Palmetto Energy Plan has a triennial (36-month) review period, starting from your First Monthly Payment Date. At the end of each 3-year window, we compare your system's actual energy output against your guaranteed threshold.

Review period: Every 36 months (triennial), starting from your First Monthly Payment Date

2. Your threshold is 90% of estimated production

  • Your system must produce at least 90% of its estimated output over the review period to meet the guarantee. If it falls short, you receive a bank deposit for the difference — calculated using the energy price per kWh in your agreement.

  • Example:

The energy price per kWh is specific to your contract, so your actual deposit may differ. Payment is made to your bank account within 30 days of verification.

3. We watch your system so you don't have to

  • We track your system's energy production in real time. If something looks off, we dispatch a technician — often before you even notice a problem.

4. Surplus rolls forward

  • If your system produces above the guaranteed threshold during a review period, the extra kWh carry forward to offset any future shortfalls. Over the full term of your agreement, any production beyond the guarantee is yours at no additional cost.

5. Some periods may be excluded

  • Occasionally, a portion of your review period is excluded from the calculation — for example, during a grid outage, a major weather event, or while your system was offline for repairs. If an exclusion applies, your email will include the relevant dates and a case number. Contact us if you have questions.

What your Performance Guarantee email means

At the end of each 3-year review period, you'll receive a Performance Guarantee update by email.

Frequently asked questions

When does my 3-year guarantee period start?

  • Your first review period begins on your First Monthly Payment Date and runs for 36 months. Each subsequent period follows immediately after.

Do I need to submit a claim if my system underperforms?

  • No. Underperformance payouts are automatic. If you receive an underperformance email and haven't seen a deposit within 30 days, contact us and we'll look into it.

What counts as surplus, and what happens to it?

  • Any production above your guaranteed threshold is considered surplus and rolls forward to offset future shortfalls. Over your full agreement, any extra energy beyond the guarantee is yours at no added cost.

What if part of my review period is excluded?

  • Excluded periods — like grid outages or major weather events — aren't counted in the calculation. Your email will list the dates and a case number. Reach out if you have questions about an exclusion.
