Guide to Resetting Your Qcells System

How to safely power cycle your Q.cells solar system to resolve communication errors and get your system back online.

If your solar system is showing a communication error, a quick power cycle (reboot) is often all it takes to get everything back online. Please follow the steps below in order to safely restart your Qcell system.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have access to the following three locations:

  • Your Q.cells Combiner Box

  • Your AC Disconnect switch (usually a grey box near your main electrical panel or inverter)

  • Your home's main electrical service panel

Step 1: Turn Off the Breakers Inside Your Q.cells Combiner Box

  • Open the Combiner Box and flip the circuit breakers to the OFF position.

Step 2: Turn Off Your AC Disconnect

  • Locate the AC Disconnect switch (a grey box near your main electrical panel or inverter).

  • Flip the lever to the OFF position.

Step 3: Turn Off the Solar Breaker in Your Electrical Panel

  • Open your home's main electrical service panel.

  • Find the breaker labeled "Solar" or "PV."

  • Flip it to the OFF position.

Step 4: Wait at least 5 Full Minutes

This is an important step — keeping the system fully powered down for at least 5 minutes allows the internal components to completely discharge before restarting.

Step 5: Restart the System (in This Order)

  1. Turn the DC Disconnect back to ON (or "1").

  2. Flip the Solar Breaker in your electrical panel back to ON.

  3. Flip the AC Disconnect lever back to ON.

What to Expect

After restarting, your system will run a short self-test that typically takes 5 to 10 minutes. During this time, you may see flashing green or orange lights on the inverter — this is completely normal.

It can take up to an hour for updated production data to appear in your Qcell's monitoring app.
