LightReach Customer Journey: Contract Signing to PTO

What to expect from Contract Signing to Permission to Operate (PTO) as a Palmetto LightReach customer

Updated this week

Welcome to Palmetto LightReach!

This article outlines what you can expect from the moment you sign your contract to the exciting day your solar system receives Permission to Operate (PTO). We'll guide you through each step, ensuring you're informed and confident throughout your solar journey.

Step 1: Contract Signing & Onboarding

Your journey begins with the signing of your LightReach contract.

  • Who is involved? You and your dedicated LightReach sales representative.

  • Immediately after signing, you will receive a copy of your contract. This document is also conveniently accessible anytime in your LightReach Portal.

  • You will also need to set-up your automatic payments and complete other onboarding tasks located right in your dashboard in your Palmetto account.

Step 2: Pre-Installation Phase

Once your contract is signed, your project enters the pre-installation phase, a crucial period where we prepare everything for your solar system's installation. This phase involves a series of internal milestones managed collaboratively by our partners and Palmetto.

  • Document Collection: Our team will gather all necessary documentation required for your project.

  • Engineering Plans: Detailed engineering plans for your solar system will be developed.

  • Utility Coordination: We will coordinate with your local utility company to ensure a seamless interconnection process.

Step 3: Installation

With all pre-installation preparations complete, it's time for your solar system to come to life!

  • Certified Installers: Your solar system will be expertly installed by our network of certified installers (EPCs). They are highly trained professionals committed to quality and safety.

  • Documentation: Once the installation is complete, detailed information, including installation photos and final plan sets, will be uploaded and made accessible to you. You can view these documents in the Palmetto Finance Portal under your Post-Activation accounts.

Step 4: Permission to Operate (PTO) Application and Approval

After your solar system is installed, the next critical step is obtaining Permission to Operate (PTO) from your utility company. PTO is the formal authorization that allows your solar system to connect to the grid and begin generating electricity.

  • Application: LightReach will submit all necessary documentation to your utility company to apply for PTO on your behalf.

  • Activation Package: All PTO documentation is uploaded to the Palmetto Finance Portal as part of your comprehensive Activation Package.

Step 5: Activation

Congratulations! Once your utility company grants PTO, your solar system is officially active!

  • Palmetto Protect Performance: Upon PTO approval, your Palmetto Protect Performance plan activates, ensuring your system is covered.

  • Billing Commencement: Your "Activation Approved" date triggers the setup of your billing. You can expect your first customer invoice approximately 30 days after this date.

Post-PTO Support

Our commitment to you doesn't end once your system is active. Our LightReach customer experience team is here to support you every step of the way!
