Guide to Resetting Your Tesla Powerwall 3 System

Step-by-step instructions to safely restart your Tesla Powerwall 3 system to resolve issues.

Before you begin, please make sure it's daylight outside so you can confirm whether the reboot was successful.

Step 1: Turn Off Your Powerwall 3

  • Locate the On/Off switch on your Powerwall 3 and set it to the OFF position.

Step 2: Turn Off the Integrated DC Isolator

  • Locate the DC Isolator switch on your Powerwall 3 and turn it to the OFF position.

Step 3: Turn Off the AC Breaker

  • Locate the AC breaker connected to your Powerwall 3 and flip it to the OFF position.

Step 4: Turn Everything Back On (Reverse Order)

  • Flip the AC breaker back to ON.

  • Turn the DC Isolator back to ON.

  • Set the On/Off switch on your Powerwall 3 back to ON.

What Do the LED Lights Mean?

Once your Powerwall restarts, here's what the LED indicator light tells you:

  • 🟢 Solid White — Everything is working normally.

  • Flashing White — Powerwall is idle (no charging or discharging activity).

  • No Light — Powerwall is off or in sleep mode.

  • 🔴 Flashing Red — There is a fault that needs attention. Please contact us if you see this.

Note about Expansion Units: If you have Powerwall 3 Expansion units, they do not have their own on/off switch. They will automatically shut down when the main Powerwall 3 is turned off and restart when it comes back on.
