How to Set Up Your Palmetto Energy Account

Step-by-Step Palmetto Account Set-up Guide

You're just a few simple steps away from lower energy costs! When you sign up for your Palmetto Energy Plan, you'll receive an email and text message (SMS) with a link to activate your account.

We'll guide you through each onboarding step below. Feel free to go at your own pace, as your progress will be saved. Depending on your situation, you may not need to complete every step.

Step 1: Upload your utility bill

Your most recent utility bill helps us understand your current energy usage so we can accurately size your solar system for your home. A properly sized system means you get the most savings possible. Just take a photo, screenshot, or upload a PDF — whatever's easiest.

Having trouble?

  • Make sure the bill is from the last 3 months

  • Ensure the photo or file is clear and legible — avoid shadows or blurry images

  • Accepted file types include JPG, PNG, and PDF

  • If your upload fails, try a different file format or reduce the file size

Step 2: Complete a soft credit check

As part of setting up your Palmetto Energy Plan, we run a soft credit check. This helps us confirm your eligibility and finalize your plan details. Because it's a soft check, it won't affect your credit score in any way.

Having trouble?

  • Make sure your personal information (name, address, date of birth, SSN) is entered exactly as it appears on official documents

  • If the check is unable to be completed, try to resubmit or contact us for additional support.

Step 3: Verify your identity

To protect you and keep your account secure, we need to confirm your identity. To keep your account secure, we need to confirm who you are. You'll upload a photo of a government-issued ID and may be asked to take a quick selfie. The verification process runs through a secure, trusted third-party platform.

We accept the following forms of ID:

  • Passport or passport card

  • State-issued ID card

  • Driver's license

  • Resident permit ID or Green Card

Having trouble?

  • Make sure your ID isn't expired

  • Take the photo in good lighting with all four corners of the ID visible

  • For the selfie, make sure your face is well-lit and clearly visible

  • If your ID isn't accepted, try a different form of identification

  • If verification fails repeatedly, contact our Customer Experience team for further assistance

Step 4: Verify home ownership

Since your solar system will be installed on your property, we need to verify you have the right to make changes to it. In most cases, we're able to automatically confirm that you own the property. We'll reach out if we need additional information.

If prompted, you can upload one of the following from your dashboard:

  • Most recent property tax bill

  • Mortgage statement less than 60 days old

  • Original deed or deed of trust

Having trouble?

  • Make sure the document clearly shows your name and property address

  • Be sure mortgage statements are less than 60 days old

  • Ensure the photo or file is clear, legible, and all text is readable

  • If one document isn't accepted, try another from the list above

Step 5: Set up your payment method

Adding a payment method enrolls you in autopay using direct debit (ACH). This keeps your payments on time without any extra effort on your end, so you can focus on enjoying your energy savings.

Having trouble?

  • Double-check that your bank account and routing numbers are entered correctly

  • Make sure the account you're using supports ACH/direct debit — contact your bank if you're unsure

  • If your payment method is declined, try a different bank account or contact our Customer Experience team

Step 6: Sign your contract

Your contract outlines the full details of your Palmetto Energy Plan, including your rate, terms, and commitments. Take a moment to review everything, and when you're ready, sign securely through DocuSign right from your dashboard.

Having trouble?

  • If you can't sign from your dashboard, check your email inbox, including spam and junk folders, for a DocuSign email

  • Make sure you are using the most recent link sent to you, as older links may expire

  • If you experience technical issues with DocuSign, try a different browser or device

  • Contact our Customer Experience team if you are unable to complete the signing process

Step 7: Review your ClearFacts disclosure

Your ClearFacts disclosure is a plain-language summary of your Energy Plan — designed to make sure you fully understand what you're signing up for. Open the checklist, review the key details, and move forward with confidence.

Having trouble?

  • If you cannot locate your ClearFacts disclosure, check your email inbox (including spam or junk folders)

  • If you need the disclosure resent, contact our Customer Experience team
